If you are having a beach side wedding there are many different favors that you can give your guests when they attend your special affair. Some of these you can buy but here is one idea that you can make yourself that will be cute, and very inexpensive.
Candles Made from Sea Shells:
What you need:
Seashells - You can get gather these yourself if you live near the beach yourself or buy them in a store or online.
Wax - Wax is sold mostly at craft stores. You can choose from beeswax, or even wax pellets that can be melted down for your sea shells. You can even use broken up crayons to change the color of the wax that you put in the candles. Since you won’t be using a lot of wax per each seashell candle you can even do several different candles in different colors.
Wicks - You will have to put a wick in each candle. Each candle will have small wick attached to it which will allow the candle to be lit. You can get these at the craft store also with the candle wax.
Glitter - Glitter is optional. You can use glitter, just a little bit to each candle to make them sparkle in the light. You won’t want to overdo it but just a little glitter will make the candle shine. You can put the glitter in the wax or sprinkle it on top when the candle is almost completely set.
How to do it:
Melting the wax is easy. The wax they should have the instructions on the package, but if not you will want to use a double boiler that you will melt the wax in, once you have the wax melted you will want to pour and fill the shell with wax, You don’t need the wax boiling, just enough to make it hot enough to melt and to pour it. Once the wax is hot and melted you can then add broken up crayons to add color if you want to add color.
The wicks which can be bought at the craft store will be inserted in the candle when it’s almost set. They usually come in a package with several wicks in each package. These little wick holders will allow you to position the wick on the bottom of the sea shell and will allow you to have the wick in your candle.
When the wax is almost set and ready - add a little glitter to each candle. This will make them sparkle.
These will make cute little candles that you can give as favors for each guest. They will be inexpensive and easy to make. You can make a bunch of them for your guests that won’t take you any time at all to do.
