Simple Ways To Modernize Your Bathroom Designs

If you have new bathroom designs in your mind, and you’ve done any research at all, then you’ll know there is a TON of information available. So much information, in fact, that it’s easy to become overwhelmed. I’ve come up with a list of tips that will help you sort through it all, stay organized, and make your dream bathroom a reality.
Step One - Evaluate your physical space
You must know not only what you want to do, but how much space it will consume and, more importantly, if you have enough of it. Take the time to get exact measurements of each wall, the total dimensions, and all angles so you don’t end up with a nightmare on your hands.
Step Two - Determine If It’s A Complete Overhaul Or Simple Update
Keep in mind the old adage form follows function. The bathroom is one of the hardest working rooms in the house. It provides a workstation for beginning the day, as well as a retreat to help you unwind at the end of the day. Your specific needs will dictate the hardscape of your bathroom.
Step Three - Know What’s Available To You
Hardscape, or furniture & fixtures, is the logical next step in the process, so it’s important that you know what look and feel you’re wanting to achieve. It may be traditional, contemporary, organic, spa style, or another design style, but you need to choose now before the hardscape is chosen.
Step Four - Use Paint Or Wallpaper With Texture To Accentuate The Design
If you decide on paint instead of paper, now is the time to decide on color, grade, type, etc. You have many choices such as nautical themes. In this example, blues and greens work well, along with shells, rope, wood, and other nautical related items. The same idea concept would go along with, say, a country theme. For this example, pastels, florals, and unvarnished wood is the flavor you’ll want.
This is also the place to decide on your countertops and flooring. Shiny floors are beautiful. They reflect light and are easy to clean, but they’re also slick when damp, a possible hazard in the bathroom. Natural stone has more texture and provides more traction, but can also be harder to clean. There are pros and cons to every choice, be informed before you buy.
Step Five - The Icing On The Cake
Don’t forget your hardware. From faucets to handles these bits of gleaming metal act like jewelry in a well designed bathroom. The finishes are endless, from polished nickel to gleaming gold. Use these bright choices to enhance your design style.
Step Six - Using The Right Light
You’ve selected every aspect to your new bathroom and now it’s time to put the finishing touches on it: the lighting. Pick your fixtures first, then the bulbs second. Fixtures can be quite ornamental if you’ve selected a more elegant style of design, simple if you’re going for the spa look, and even track lighting, which goes well with just about any design style. After the fixture is selected then you move on to the actual bulbs, which can be bright or dim, fluorescent, and many other types depending on the style of your bathroom and what look you want to achieve.
These are the basic steps to get you started with your new bathroom design.
