Today’s canopy wagons are very well designed, are built for comfort, and are very lightweight. There is something about a wagon that makes them so endearing to our children. My children used to sit in their wagon for hours. They were just as happy to sit in them as they were to ride in them. I think that wagons are like a right of passage for kids.

The first wagons to be built were made of metal or wood but most of the canopy wagons today are plastic. Heavy-duty plastic wagons are great in bad weather. They won’t rust and they’re easy to clean if they get wet or dirty. They’re very indestructible in any kind of rainy or snowy weather, making them a great long lasting purchase.

Today’s plastic wagons are very parent and child friendly. Many of them have molded seats for comfort and seat belts for safety. They have cup holders for drinks and storage areas for extra supplies. They also have doors that open and close so your child can get in and out easily and safely, and rounded edges to prevent cuts and scratches.

Canopy wagons generally have extra long handles for more ease in pulling. They have a great turning radius and you really have to do a lot to get them to fall over. They’re also as durable as can be. Your kids can crash them into trees, run them over rocks, push them over, or spill things in them and they’ll keep on going.

Plastic wagons are very easy to clean and maintain. All you need is a little hot water and mild detergent. Use a soft bristled brush to scrub it clean and then rinse it thoroughly with clean water. You might want to dry off any metal parts that are underneath so they don’t rust.

Your wagon will not always be able to withstand the UV rays of the a hot sun. The plastic can warp and become somewhat deformed and the color may begin to fade. This happens after a lengthy time in the sun but you should prepare nonetheless. On days where the sun is extremely hot you should store your wagon in a shady and cool spot. You also don’t want you child to get burned by sitting on a hot seat.

At this age, children need a lot of cognitive and sensory stimulation and a wagon will help to stimulate both of these. When you’re out and about around the neighborhood or at the park, your kids will be taking in everything that they see, hear, and smell. They’ll be processing all of this information and using their imaginations to drum up little adventures of their own. This is a great way to stimulate both cognitive and sensory development.

Canopy wagons make great ride on toys for toddlers. They’re well made, easy to maintain, and a treat for the kids. You’ll enjoy many afternoons of strolling around the neighborhood and spending quality time with the kids.

Two of the best canopy wagons for toddlers are the Radio Flyer Voyager Wagon and Step 2 Safari Wagon. Visit Tina’s site at www.toddlerrideontoys.net to see which one is best for your child.
