Orlando vacation resorts, and Orlando vacations generally, are notoriously hectic especially with all the attractions the kids want to visit, but there is so much more to enjoy in this busy city. A visitor will never be left feeling bored in Orlando with a huge range of cultural places to visit, shopping malls and ‘non-theme park’ attractions. Florida in general has a long history of attracting tourists and this is the busiest city with more and more people visiting each year in a place that will satisfy even the most demanding of individuals.

It is a great place to visit even if you only have shopping on your mind as Orlando area is full of beautiful shopping malls, restaurants and shops of every type. More than 35-million people each year come to enjoy a vacation in Orlando at the many attractions and events that make it a great place to visit.

If you are an animal lover then you must visit the Central Florida Zoological Park in Sanford which was opened to the public in’75 and houses a collection of over 400 hundred animals. The zoo has a charity status and is dedicated to the preservation of all exotic animals, including those that are only found in Florida.

Back in’42, the Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park started exhibiting the world’s most extensive collection of the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The collection is the most comprehensive anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings and leaded glass.

Whilst it may seem that Orlando has been created for the entertainment of children that could not be further from the truth as there is plenty here for everyone. The choice of evening entertainment for vacations in Orlando at Orlando vacation resorts and elsewhere is as diverse as the range of activities available during daylight hours with themed shows to Disney’s Pleasure Island or City walk at Universal.

The Orlando Science Center is another of the major attractions and its four-story center is the biggest of its kind in the Southeast; offering 10 exhibit halls that allow visitors everything from the Florida swamplands to the dry plains of Mars. Then there is the International Trolley and Train Museum where you can see toy trains from the’20s; plus take a ride in a California Victorian-style half open/half closed trolley car.

For something a little different there’s the Titanic Exhibition which tells the story of the ill fated Ocean Liner performed by a character from the ship; the displays contain some original salvaged items and at times the tour is very moving. Away from all the hustle is the wonderful Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown; it has beautiful sidewalks in over forty acres where it is possible to spend a few peaceful hours.

No trip to Orlando would be complete without a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort which comprises of four main theme parks plus water parks, or Universal Studios resort complex which is equally as popular. Everything you need for your vacation is in Orlando - a place that’s open all year round but if you want to escape huge crowds then avoid the holiday seasons, in particular Easter and Christmas, as the Orlando Vacation resorts are likely to be full, and the theme parks even fuller.
