Results of some surveys indicate that now women are half a stone bulkier, two inches taller, and have an increase of three numbers in their shoe sizes than what they had sixty years back. In the 60s, a large number of British women had a trim and slender physique with a 5ft-2inches petite figure.

The feet size was about 31/2 while 12 size of dress was used by most of the women. The then lifestyle was quite active and women used to work, and move in an active manner, as compared to the present day lifestyle. The transformation of figure may be due to the change in lifestyle.

Now in 2009, it has been seen that the consciousness is arising amongst women to concentrate on their figures, but even now, they are not successful in achieving their goal. According to the UK National Women Figure Survey, it has been found that women today is more tall, bulky, and lack curves in the bodies.

The UK survey was conducted in 1951 last time, but you can easily see the difference between the survey statements, and the present day women figure. It is very astonishing overall. Although it is good to have a bit taller height, but the weight, and shoe size have increased as well, which is quite fearful. Today, the hourglass figure constitutes measures like 38-34-40. Alas! Many women are striving hard to attain the same ideal figures.

Now hips are nearly one, and a half inch bigger, and so are the busts, and when it comes to waist, there is a difference of six and a half inches, which indicates that almost all of us have a little, or somewhat bigger tummy. These changes have not only affected our looks, but they have also cast their impacts on our health.

There are certain factors behind these changes in our shapes, for instance, if we are taller now, it is a result of plentiful, and better diet. Now we have all the important nutrients in our diets in a right proportion that are considered essential for proper body growth. This gain in height is also a result of some changes in our environment, as we have warmer homes, better sanitation, and much improved medicines now.

However, increase in weight is due to the deficiency of activity. Now, women are more apt to carry out indoor activities rather than keeping themselves active and alert outdoors. Workout is needed only when weight is increased, otherwise there is a lack of healthy lifestyle. Due to this reason, weight gain, and ageing are the more commonly occurring phenomena.

It takes nothing to be heavier as we have become without realising that we have become heavier, but once we get heavier, it takes even months or even years to regain our desired shapes. In addition, once we get out of shape, we reckon it as a part of our destiny to become so. Well, it is not our destiny, but our lifestyle, which makes us so.
