Underfloor Heating: Which One Will Warm Your House and Reduce Your Bill

A great way to heat an area is with passive heat radiation, also known as underfloor heating. Since heat naturally moves from hot areas to cold ones, radiant heat is very effective. It is also very efficient, with less heat loss than conventional methods. It also provides a more pleasant heated atmosphere, with reduced rates of dry air issues. Underfloor heating comes in 2 varieties.
Variety 1 is water based underfloor radiant heating.
Variety 2 is electricity based underfloor radiant heating.
The first variety of underfloor heating is water based. Hoses that hold water are laid under the floor, and are connected to a hot water tank and water pump. When heat is wanted, hot water is forced through the hoses. The water is continually pumped to keep the floors warm.
Electricity based underfloor heating is Variety 2. Under the flooring layer, mats with metal coils running within are laid down. To produce heat, electrical currents are sent through the coils. Electricity based is a simpler and cheaper version of underfloor heating.
Electrical and Water based underfloor heating have benefits. Electrical based items are typically less expensive, but they can interfere with some electrical devices. Many newer version addressed and fixed this issue, but have also increased the price of it. The water based radiant heating does not have the electrical interference issues, and can also have a solar hot water tank help with supplementing heated water. These items both can have some electricity supplied by solar electric panels.
Underfloor heating is a great way to efficiently and effectively heat your house. It results in lower heating costs and a more pleasant atmosphere on those cold days. You always want to make sure that you know as much about these items before you decide which type to go with.
