Choosing The Right Rugs

You can use a rug in an open space where there isn’t any furniture on the rug. This includes in front of a fireplace, in front of the bookcase, in the middle of the room, and even in front of the sink. A rug used in an open area will provide it with a splash of color and will be able to give the room more personality. When there is a lot of traffic in an open area, you have to remember that certain materials will hold up better and longer than others.

Entry ways are also another great area to place an area rug in. Just make sure you choose a thicker material which is durable and easy to wash since it’s the first place people’s feet hit when entering your home. If it’s a longer hallway try choosing a great runner which heads from the entry door down the hallway. It will give your space that welcome feeling to guests. Also make sure you have a gripper padding underneath the area rug to make sure it doesn’t slip and cause injury.

If you have a busier space in the home which needs a great area rug but you don’t want to choose anything which will show dirt easily, try a great patterned area rug which has darker colors involved in its pattern. This will create the illusion if it’s dirty or gets a stain that it may just be part of the area rugs design.

If you have a smaller room such as a bathroom or a little nook in your home and you want it to seem larger then add a great patterned area rug if possible with lighter colors. Make sure this isn’t a room which is too busy with traffic. Many bathrooms of course receive guests but not as often as a family room or entry way so it won’t need to be washed quite often. Placing an area rug in different areas of a home will give that room much more of a comfy feeling and a cozier look.

Darker colors in a neutral room are great ideas just to bring a focal point into the design. You also can create a warmer feel when choosing a darker color in a romantic room such as the bedroom!

Make sure you research your shapes and sizes of area rugs before purchase. There are many rectangular carpets and are usually the ones which many choose. Try to be open to the design style using another great shape such as oval, round, or octagon shaped area rugs. It will give it that unique style but still make your floor look great.
