This year, the movie industry produced well over 275 films. In this group of over 300 films, I think at least seventy, maybe more, would be classified as comedies. Here is a list of the better comedies out there for you.

FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Grief stricken from a break up with long time girlfriend Sarah, an actress in a cheesy sitcom, Peter finally plans to escape to Oahu to get past the break up. Of course, when he checks into the resort hotel, the first thing he sees is Sarah and her new man, who’s bigger than life. This sets up as a fun filled romantic comedy.

GET SMART: Agent 86, AKA Maxwell Smart is at it again, and everything is under “CONTROL”. The classic James Bond spy spoof, the shoe phone, and all the great one liners. It is a fun look back at this classic spy spoof TV series.

HAMLET 2: Unsuccessful actor Dana Marshz has moved on to teaching theater classes at the high school to uninterested students. When a building is destroyed at the school, the school board figures the theater curriculum must be eliminated. Now fully motivated, he is on a mission to save the theater classes by producing Hamlet 2, a sequel to the original work, which he writes himself.

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As the title suggests, this is the sequel to the animated smash hit Madagascar. Our cast of lost animals, Alex (Lion), Marty (Zebra), Gloria (Hippo), and Melman (Giraffe) are trying to get back to the zoo in New York, which is home for them all. With things going wrong again, thanks to those wacky Penguins again, they find themselves going to their true homeland, Africa.

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Heavy pot smoker Dale Denton, in a stroke of bad luck, has seen a bad cop, and the local drug king pin, murder someone. The killers know he has seen what’s gone down. Knowing they’ve seen him, he drops his joint of pineapple express, and takes off. This joint is such a unique type of weed that it is possible to find out who has it. The “fun” is on, as Dale and his dealer Saul are desperately hiding from the bad guys.

ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, a couple of energy drink sales people, might be seeing some hard jail time after trashing the company truck. The only way to avoid serving jail time is to work in community service for 150 hours. Their task will be to work as mentors with difficult children in a big brother type situation. The stage is set for some good comedy.

STEP BROTHERS: Two forty year old child adults, who still live with their single parents, will now have to live in the same room because their parents have wed, big problems loom. Casting John Reilly and Will Ferrell as the key players, and the conditions are right for a funny movie. This comedy looks like a sure thing for comedy lovers.

TROPIC THUNDER: With a star studded cast this movie is a spoof on many of the most popular war movies. To get a realistic performance from his crew to make a first rate war movie, the seemingly bold director into the jungle, and leaves them on their own. The object is to shock them into making a war movie monster, which hidden cameras will capture. When the director dies unexpectedly by stepping on a real land mine, the spoiled actors are on their own, and they think there acting, but things are getting very, very real. This is a wonderful cast with incredible make-up for Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise.

ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: The bills are piling up and Zack and Miri, platonic friends since childhood, really need to find an answer to their money problems. Their solution? Oh, that?s easy, start making porno flicks. As you can imagine this is a perfect environment for a great comedy.

These films, and many, many more, are yours to buy, get as a rental, or even download right onto your computer. Accessing movies through downloads from websites online is quickly becoming one of the most popular ways for accessing DVD’s. Check online to find websites to access this technology. It’s the best way to build a personally selected library of films.
