Flowers communicate an eternal language. They can express emotions that are difficult to put into words. A flower arrangement sent to a friend in need tells them just how much we care. Flowers carry a lot of fragrance and beauty. But all flowers are not chosen just for these characteristics, but for the special messages that they stand for. Even back in the Greek and Roman times, flowers were associated with some emotions. However, the practice of conveying messages through flowers was made popular in the Victorian times.

In days when people were more formal they used flowers, such as posies, to convey thoughts more thoroughly then using the written or spoken word. There were detailed lists of what each flower meant, both alone and combined with other flowers. Some of the meanings are still followed today.

Nearly everyone realizes that red roses as an overt expression of true romantic love, but what of other rose color meanings? Pink roses can also signify romance, but are seen as less intense and might be more suitable early in a dating relationship. Also sending pink roses can also be used to express friendship with almost anyone.

The original colors of rose were red and white. However, pink roses are the natural hybrid, and have been around for some time as well. There are numerous shades of pink that are available from rose farms. They vary from a rosy blush to deep dark pink. Innocence is symbolized by the delicate shades of pink, and this helps them to be suitable for children.

Different colors of roses have specific meanings as well. For making up after a fight or to make new friends, send a yellow rose arrangements. In olden days, however, yellow roses meant something entirely negative. They were a sign of infidelity and cheating!

Traditionally, you should send pink roses to represent affection and red roses as a symbol of their passion. Regardless of whatever reason you choose for sending flowers, they are sure to be greatly appreciated. A florist will help you to choose a color and can tell you what each different flowers symbolizes to help you get the right message across. They may even have a floral guide available to pop in with your bouquet so that the receiver understands your sentiments correctly.
