Tips for Cutting The Cost Of Air Travel For Kids

One of the biggest costs of traveling with kids is paying for their flights. Furthermore, it isn’t always easy to pay the full prices of airline tickets. For this reason, it’s important to find children’s airline tickets at discount prices.

Travel agents can arrange for children’s flights. They buy blocks of tickets at a greatly reduced rate. Then they sell them to individuals at a price that is a markup for them, but quite a discount for you. This way, you can get tickets for the whole family, kids included.

Wholesale clubs, such as Sam’s Club and Costco have sometimes offered good discounts on airline tickets. If you check into this, don’t buy until you explore other options as well. These are sometimes good ticket prices and sometimes they are not.

Calling the airline directly can sometimes get you a discount. This is especially true if the travel is of an emergency nature. If there is a death in the family, the airline might offer discounted tickets for grieving families.

Another way airlines can help you is to set up your child with recurring flights. These may be useful for regular visits to relatives such as non-custodial parents. The advantage of setting these up in a series is that the deal often comes with deep discounts.

Southwest Airlines offers savings on children’s flights. The best way to arrange these is to speak to the Southwest Airlines reservations desk directly. These fares may not be available on the airline’s website.

Southwest has infant fares for babies from fourteen days to under two years. If they sit on a lap, they can ride for free. If they’re in a safety seat, they will get the special infant rate.

Infants, as well as all children, must be verified as to age. This is done by Southwest’s procedures involving identification. There are child’s fares for children of the ages of two to eleven. Older children, of the ages of twelve through twenty-one, qualify for the reduced youth rate.

There are also special deals to be found on the internet. As a matter of fact, Southwest offers deals such as one where kids fly for five dollars with a Disneyland resort package. Some vacation sites offer discounts to kids of up to fifty percent off for destinations such as Hawaii and Mexico. It’s just a matter of looking up discount travel for kids.

Some travel companies offer rebates. Watch for these, as you can get back as much as $250 on a child’s travel to certain cities. It all depends on the program available. It also varies with the retail price of your child’s ticket.

Travel search sites on the internet can provide an easy way to find discount tickets. The usual sites are those such as Expedia, Orbitz, and Priceline, to name a few. These offer different deals for kids and others on airline tickets.

Other sites, which may turn out to be even better, compare all the airfares for a given itinerary. You are given the options from cheapest to the most expensive. American Airlines often runs specials to get themselves on the top of this list for CheapTickets.

Air travel is always expensive. Bringing kids on a vacation simply adds more seats to be paid for. If their seats can be had for a discounted rate, the vacation or visit can take on more importance than the flight.

If you are planning a trip to Mexico, but you have a budget in mind, then you will be glad to know that visiting Mexico while on a budget is possible. There are many ways to save money through package deals, low-cost airfare, discount accommodations, dining out, and traveling within the country.

Mexico is known for its beautiful beaches, rich culture, and fabulous cruises. Even while on a budget, these activities can all be enjoyed during your visit. So no matter what your financial situation is, you will be pleased to discover that planning a vacation to Mexico is affordable for just about anyone.

Saving on airfare is the first way to begin planning a vacation to Mexico while on a budget. There are many different packages available. With the help of the internet, finding a great deal is often simple and easy. Depending on your location, you may also be surprised to discover that your own local travel agent may have vacation packages that include airfare, as well as your accommodations.

Accommodations are a necessity when visiting Mexico. If you are staying with friends or family then you will automatically save money. However, if you need to make arrangements for your housing, then you may find that a package deal is most beneficial to those on a budget. There are other means of inexpensive housing, such as camping, but if you are looking for a hotel environment, then look for one with a package deal. A travel package can save you a considerable amount of money, so shop around and find the best deals that fit your needs.

Restaurants and eating out can be expensive, especially in trendy nightclubs and other famous resorts. However, if you are traveling to Mexico on a budget, you can spend wisely and eat delicious foods while remaining on your budget. You can take advantage of the many outdoor street markets and save. The food is great, delicious, and a true taste of Mexican culture; not to mention, it is also easy on your pocketbook.

Shopping in grocery stores is another way to save money while visiting Mexico. By eating the local produce, you will save money and have more to enjoy for your other vacation expenses. It is important to note that you should treat any fruit and produce that you buy as food that requires care. Make sure to peel and wash all fruits and vegetables before eating them and practice safe handling instructions for all food.

Transportation is another area where you can save money and remain within your targeted financial plan. Mexico buses are a very cheap way to travel. If you need information regarding bus schedules, times, and whether or not you will need a ticket, check with locals during your stay. However, as a safety precaution, you are encouraged not to ride in any taxis that haven’t been prearranged through either the airport or your resort.

When it comes to transportation, you can also save money by taking a bus, rather than an airplane, into Mexico. Some major bus lines, such as Greyhound, will take you straight into Mexico. This is an affordable way to save money and plan your vacation as well.

Planning a Mexico vacation on a budget may seem difficult to do, but you may soon realize that there is a lot of assistance available. With careful planning, and sticking to your budget, you can enjoy a wonderful vacation in Mexico.

The Only Cyprus Villa Rental Checklist Worth Reading!

Here’s a list of points to help you make sure you get exactly what you are looking for when you rent a villa in Cyprus. If you stick to these points, you’ll avoid any potential pitfalls that can affect people renting a villa in Cyprus, or anywhere else for that matter!

The letting agency that you choose to use should be a reputable one or it should at least have been recommended to you. Don’t even consider sending any type deposit unless you have been provided with complete contact details. Have a look on their website to see if their contact details are the same and also you may want to try contacting any previous customers listed who give positive feedback.

Be very suspicious of prices that seem extremely low for no good reason. Don’t make payment through services like Western Union or Money Gram, as the cash can be “received” anonymously. If possible pay by credit card, and ensure your card has the appropriate protection (call them first to be sure)

In order to get an overall insight to what is being offered to you, try getting information from both on-line agencies and high street travel agents. A way to check the credibility of an on-line agency is by sending them an email so you can see what kind a response you get, and once again insist on contact with previous customers. The best way to check out their credibility is by googling the company name to see if anybody out there has any comments to pass on.

Double check on exactly how much you are spending, whether the price is quoted in Pounds sterling or Euro and you can find plenty of on-line exchange rate info sites. You also need to clarify what time you can actually enter the villa and also find out what time you need to vacate it on your departure.

Another important point is to have the exact address of where the villa is written down somewhere just so the taxi driver on arrival knows exactly where to go. If you do have the exact address you could try having a look on Google Earth to see whether there is building works in the area or any other inconvenience. It may not be too late to change your location.

Stick to these basic points and you’ll enjoy a wonderful Cyprus villa rental experience. If you have any doubt at all then we very strongly recommend you first take a look at our preferred villa rental agency, then see how they stack up against other options. Enjoy Cyprus!

Travel and the Economy in 2008

Date: Sunday February 3, 2008
Posted in: Luxury Travel

In 2007, the real estate market shifted to favor homebuyers. Gas prices went up and the value of the U.S. dollar fell, but the number of American travelers planning a vacation in 2008 has stayed strong.

According to an article: Travel Trends: What’s Hot in 2008 by Beth Harpaz in the December 17, 2007 issue of USA Today “the Conference Board’s most recent consumer survey found 45.8 percent of Americans intend to take a vacation within six months.”

Authorities throughout the travel industry seem to believe travelers in 2008 want to be practical, yet still enjoy amenities that make vacationing simpler and more relaxing.

“In 2008, experts say, Americans may take shorter trips or choose destinations closer to home where their dollar goes further,” Harpaz continued.

Family Comes First: Family Travel on the Rise

In our fast-paced American culture, two income households, sixty-hour work weeks, fast food and cell phones have become the norm - all to make life more convenient. However, the modern conveniences of our daily lives now seem to require a lot of attention and personal energy. In response to the stress modern life has developed over the last century, Americans are now returning to their roots. The importance of time with family and a healthy quality of life is moving up on the priority list.

Luxury travel industry expert Karen Weiner Escalera and her Florida-based travel marketing firm, KWE Group, firmly believe that family travel is on the rise for 2008. In one of Escalera’s most recent articles on the Travel Industry Wire, Top Ten Luxury Travel and Lifestyle Trends for 2008, the number two trend is “Relationships with family and friends take center stage.” According to Escalera, “Accelerating since 9/11 and fueled by a backlash against a contemporary world dominated by 24/7-work schedules and dehumanizing technology, family travel is growing at a faster rate than all other sectors of leisure travel.”

A recent survey of American Express travel agents also revealed a significant rise in luxury travel among families - 82 percent wanted high-end hotels with kids’ programs and 56 percent were traveling with nannies.

“Parents, grandparents and friends are looking to travel as a way to reunite, and to celebrate life’s landmark events. Business trips with the whole family will become as common as tag-along spouses, while high-end business hotels and resorts will roll out the red carpets for families with special suites and villas,” Escalera added.

Concierge Condo Rentals and Timeshares versus Second Home Purchases

The modern traveler believes that there is no reason why the comforts of home cannot be available while on vacation. Vacation planning is greatly enhanced when you consider concierge condo rentals or timeshare options. Many families especially appreciate the opportunity to save time and money when cooking in a private kitchen or receiving tourist information and discounts from a personal travel concierge. These kinds of amenities allow travelers to spend more time relaxing and less time organizing, mapping and making decisions about travel plans. A timeshare can offer the benefits of owning a second home for vacations, without the headaches of year-round maintenance and cost.

Recently, Howard C. Nusbaum, President of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) recounted his experience at the Travel Industry Association (TIA) Marketing Outlook Forum, an annual conference of travel and tourism professionals that highlights future industry trends. He describes how Peter Yesawich, Ph.D., CEO of Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown and Russell, explained during the forum that the most recent Travel Monitor study completed by his company detailed large numbers of travelers interested in condominiums instead of traditional hotels.

The Travel monitor study also showed an increasing number of travelers interested in vacation ownership products such as private residence clubs and timeshares. The impressive data from his (Yesawich) survey furthered the buzz that timeshares were no longer a niche product, but rather a staple of today’s diverse travel industry.

In 2008, vacation ownership specialty products will provide stiff competition for second home sellers as traveling individuals, groups, and families opt for practical comfort and luxury while on vacation.

Tips For Families on Luxury Travel Vacations

Date: Sunday February 3, 2008
Posted in: Luxury Travel, Travel Tips

“The family that plays together stays together,” and luxury vacations are the greatest ways to play! Everyone needs a vacation, especially families. Tired parents, cranky kids and spoiling grandparents may not see spending the night in a Motel 6 as the best vacation plans. Families want to go on vacations that will please everyone, and the best way to do that is to find the best travel destinations, accommodations and eateries that are family friendly.

Family Friendly Destinations

The best way to find family friendly destinations is to consider places that have attractions that will entertain travelers of all ages. For example, some of the best family destinations are exotic beach locals. Kids and adults can both enjoy the sun, surf and sand, as well as the other beach activities. Stay away from luxury travel destinations that are purely historical or educational, as kids will get board quick and cause problems. It’s not the best idea to take your nine, seven and five year old to Paris for a visit to Versailles and the Louvre. They will not enjoy it, and when the kids are not happy, neither will the adults nor your fellow travelers.

Family Friendly Accommodations

You can stay in luxury on your luxury travel vacation and still find a kid friendly atmosphere. A great example of one of these hotels is the Atlantis in the Bahamas. This hotel has all the luxury desired by adults, and still offers kids programs and a great pool. Places like Atlantis and Beaches in the Caribbean are pretty up front about being kid friendly. The challenge comes when you are looking for luxury and find no hotels that are upfront to being family friendly. One way to discern if families will be welcome at specific hotels is to see how their pool is and if babysitting is offered. Usually, if both of these items are above average, the hotel is accommodating rather than simply putting up with your family.

Family Friendly Eateries

When looking for a place to eat on your luxury travel vacation, there are several elements to take into account. First of all, if there are tablecloths on the table and plates start at $25, toddlers and infants are not welcome. Children are usually accepted at fine dinning restaurants and bistros so long as they have proper manners and table etiquette. But be aware that well-behaved children are nearly always accepted, but badly behaved children are always unwelcome. If your wish to eat somewhere where your children will not be welcomed, consider taking advantage of the hotel’s babysitting services. That is exactly why they are there in the first place.

Choosing wisely is important to finding the perfect family luxury travel vacation. Finding the best family friendly destinations is key, as is finding great hotels and accommodations to stay in. Fine dinning is also a highlight of a family vacation that you might want to take advantage of, and choosing the best way to handle your family needs can be the key to satisfying everyone.
